Purchasing a wheelchair:

Do not rush when purchasing a wheelchair. The wheelchair is going to help and assist you in being mobile.
It has to suit your needs and it should be easy to use. Consider the following when choosing a wheelchair:

  • Do you want a wheelchair or a scooter?
  • Do you want an electrical wheelchair or a manual wheelchair?
  • Do you want a custom made wheelchair or a regular wheelchair?
  • Do you want a light weighted wheelchair or a heavy weighted wheelchair? Remember if you are pushing the wheelchair it is recommended to get a light weighted wheelchair.
  • How high or low do you want your seat positioned?
  • Do you want the wheelchair arms to flip up and down or do you want solid wheelchair arms that can be adjusted in height?
  • Do you want wheelchair legs that flip side-ways or do you want solid wheelchair legs?
  • Do you want the back of your wheelchair to flip down or do you want the back of the wheelchair to be solid?
  • Do you want wheels that pump up or do you want solid wheels? Solid wheels last longer.
  • What wheels do you want in terms of size?

There is a lot to consider so choose your wheelchair carefully.
