Chazak Foundation is a non-profit organization whose core objective is to assist people who experience a disability and their families.
Chazak Foundation was established in 2008. The initial purpose of Chazak was to be of assistance and continuous support to Michelle Vinokur in order to enable her to work and live a normal life regardless of her condition. Michelle has Multiple Sclerosis. It was diagnosed in 2003 but in 2008 she had a major relapse and lost the use of her legs. She therefore needed the use of a wheelchair. Many adaptations both big and small had to be made to enable Michelle to try and function normally. Chazak Foundations first project was to adapt Michelle’s bathroom at home and to make it wheelchair friendly.
Michelle learnt a lot about the trials and tribulations of being in a wheelchair. Slowly Michelle’s condition improved and a decision was made to expand the goals of Chazak Foundation. The current goals of Chazak is to continue to guide, support and assist people who experience a disability by adapting their homes and providing financial, emotional and spiritual support; and to always be there for Michelle and her needs.
Chazak Foundation was launched to the public in 2010 by donating wheelchairs to a variety of synagogues and making people aware of the Chazak Foundation website.
Chazak Foundation will now continue to raise funds in order to help as many people as possible.
