by chazak · April 9, 2017
On the 9 April 2017 Chazak Foundation donated a manual and electrical wheelchair as well as a specialised cushion which prevents pressure sores to Lwazi Collin. Lwazi Collin is 32 years old and suffers from TB of the spine. Please read his story below.
We hope with these wheelchairs it will allow him more opportunities and experiences to live life to his full potential.
Lwazi Collin was born a beautiful baby boy. He went to Mhlabas Primary school. He then attended Ladam High School.
At the age of 27 Lwazi got a peace job working at Cambridge Wholesales. In 2012 Lwazi experienced severe back pain which caused him to lose his ability to walk. He was taken to Joburg Gen and was diagnosed with TB spine. Lwazi had a lumber puncture to release the build up of the fluid in his spine. The pain was relieved for a while.
In 2013 the doctors wanted to try and get Lwazi to stand. Lwazi had major back surgery. A metal piece was put into his back. He went for Rehab Physiotherapy and his back got stronger but Lwazi still could not stand.
In 2014 Lwazi went in for another operation called a decompression fusion. Both operation were not successful and left Lwazi paralyzed from the waste down.
At the age of 32 Lwazi being paralyzed, still lives a positive life. He gets up every day and does his excersizes. Lwazi ensures that his disability will never take over his mind. Lwazi would love to find a job.
